COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH INFORMATION

Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Welcome to the new users of Derbyshire Alert.

This morning I joined the Community Speed Watch group in Coton-in-the-Elms, who all do a fantastic voluntary job slowing down drivers and taking details of speeders who breach the speed limit. 

There was 149 drivers that were driving through Church Street this morning between 8.15hrs - 9.15hrs and 3 were speeding.

Speed is a major factor in about a third of all traffic collisions.

The overall casualities in Derbyshire between January 2024 - December 2025 were a staggering 4309 people.

So as a reminder, that those drivers who break the speed limit place themselves and other road users are at risk of being injured or killed.

There are actively CSW groups in Overseal, Netherseal and Coton-in-the-Elms.
